The Motherload

To begin the celebration of Jackie turning 6, Miss Julie, Leo, Jackie and I drove to Atlanta for the weekend. Mainly to celebrate at the AMERICAN GIRL STORE!!!
Once inside, our little babes picked out a loot like nobody's business. Jackie added a second doll to her collection (as seen on the right), Ashley, our Spanish child.

We met our good friends Laney and Jen Ross at the store. Check out all the babies we came home with!

Since it was Laney's b-day too, we had lunch at the Bistro, complete with seating for our dolls.

Each baby doll had her own chair, a tea cup filled with her big sister's drink and a mini muffin. I KNOW the daddy's WISHED they could join us on this special girl trip, but we had to leave them behind.

The girls were in heaven. Pure Bliss!

After American Girl, Jen scheduled a day of mani's and pedi's for everyone.

These girls are living the life!

The day continued at Laney and Jen's house. We ordered pizza, the girls played with their new dolls 'til they dropped and the moms enjoyed a great bottle of wine.

What a great trip! Thanks Daddy's for holding down the fort at home so we could celebrate Girl Style!

Mr. B's Pumpkin Patch

Since Jackie seems to have recovered from Piggie Flu, we sent her to the pumpkin patch with her class.

This is what she was most excited about: Riding the bus for the first time EVER.
They did the usual pumpkin patch activities: corn maze, hayride, pumpkin picking, touching every farm animal in the vicinity. And I brought a vat of hand sanitizer.

This is Jackie's BFF from her new school: TESSA!

Quarantined Delight

Since we all have The Piggie Flu, we might as well enjoy our good hours together. The kids had intermittent high fevers, barfing episodes, Tb-like coughing, followed briefly by chasing spiders, swinging on swings and irritating the living crap out of each other. Then they would return to their feverish self and melt instantaneously. Oh the joys of a pandemic. (Thus far, Lu has an ear infection, not H1N1, like her 4 siblings. Keep your fingers crossed!)

Oink Oink

Stay away. Far, far away. We have H1N1 here. After coughing like a Tb patient for 3 days, and an intermittent fever of 104, Jackie got swabbed and it was positive for H1N1. Now Lucy has a fever, and Cameron and I have the cough. Leo and Hunter also have a fever and are being treated for H1N1. Lord, give us strength!

Weekend Discoveries

Now I know why my fridge has toe marks on the bottom third of it.

Lucy can sit at the big kid table!....for a few minutes before falling backwards.

This explains the Joe Joe cookie crumbs on the bottom shelf of the pantry.

No matter how much we forbid her to turn SIX, Jackie is still going to. We will soon discover what it will be like to have SIX girlfriends sleepover. Thankfully, we've enlisted Grandma Holly and Grandad's help. Get ready GG's!

Picking my battles

We don't argue about clothes anymore. She just follows 2 rules and we're all good: (1) Only clean clothes allowed (2) Must wear undies.
(You can't see the shorts she has on. They are green with monkeys swinging in a tree.)

Weekly Highlights

Since I have no pictures of my own, I'm using Tamiko's (CMan's teacher). He actually TALKED about school the day the fire truck came. (Tamiko is holding Leo, C is just below Leo's foot, new teacher Jan is in purple).

Here's the weekly highlights:
L says a loud ‘HI!’ whenever the door opens.
J started piano on Friday and LOVES IT! She’s the ONLY student in the class!
C calls Grover ‘Grovis’ or ‘Grovitz’ (Jew Grover). We can’t distingush with his lisp.
Lucy walks behind C’s truck filled with various weights. But only when I DON’T have the camera or videocamera in my hand.
J’s teacher asked us to remind her that we DON’T do cursive in kindergarten.
If it’s 6:45am, CMan is on his bike riding laps around the cul du sac.

Bathing Beauty

Lucy fits just perfectly in the sink. And it's so much easier to just dunk her rather than wipe the rice out of her folds and hair.
Anyway, while she was there, I put her to work washing dishes. She did better than the other 2 at this age.

See these teeth!? There are 5 teeth trying to come in right now. Or may have already, but I'm not sticking my digits in the alligator's mouth. These 5 teeth have transformed our baby girl into a howling coyote. (Maybe that's who the neighbors heard down the cul du sac.)

...Just before the howl, comes a sweet baby kiss.
