Happy Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving we headed to Nanny Fanny's for a Thanksgiving feast like no other-Southern Style. The meal entailed no less than 20 dishes (Julie can confirm this number) and EQUALLY as many desserts, most of which Nanny Fanny made herself. And, of course, an alcoholic's worst nightmare. Nanny was in her glory I tell you! Despite the incredible selection, Jackie ate a plate of white rice and bread. Lucy, on the other hand LOVED everything Southern (I swear we should have named this child Georgia!) It was wonderful to be with our Southern family, since we couldn't be with our Northerners. However, Dee was sick at home and was greatly missed by all.
Tiny Ruby was the biggest hit of the day. Lucy, especially loved crawling after Ruby. And Ruby loved all the attention, not to mention the free handouts.

Leigh's other Mommy, Jackie was happy to play the roll all day.

It was a beautiful day and the kids spent lots of it outdoors in trees...

...and along the water. Miraculously, only ONE child came home wet.

When Julie and her siblings were little, they used to play along the water. It has a universal appeal to kids of all ages.

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot

The kids favorite game these days is 'Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot!'. Back in the day, it was just called 'Rock, Paper, Scissors'. We have no idea how 'shoot' got added and we still haven't figured out what it means. So when Cameron plays, he ALWAYS does scissors. With an added "JING" for effect. Every time. Hunter, Jackie & Leo haven't figured this out yet. Rock, paper, scissors, shoot! "WOW! Look at that! Cameron did scissors! Oh man!"

We had Felton & Sydney over today and the kids spent nearly the entire day outdoors. LOVE NC weather. The only benefit to not traveling to Pittsburgh this Thanksgiving is playing outside in shorts!

Cameron and Felton proudly display the mushrooms they found and speared on top of their plastic golf clubs. Fungal Weapons!

Oh how I love you...

Mozart Mouse and Beethoven Bear

Jackie and Hunter recently developed an interest for music. Even though it's not what we expected them to get out of it, they really enjoy making music together! (Click on the pic to enlarge it.)

Walker Wonders

CamO is utilizing Lucy's walker much for effectively than she is. It may have something to do with the fact that he grabs it from her just before she crawls to it.

It's not so easy

After leaving all my babies for a week to head to Boston, I was super disappointed to discover that I will be leaving everyone again tomorrow until Friday. I know it's a job that pays money and gives us stability, etc. but it's not easy for anyone. Not for Dave, who has to nap before I leave in order to have enough energy. Not for Cameron, who sobs "Don't leave me, Mommy! Don't go to Norf Caromima." Not for Jackie, who leaves a sleep-over early b/c she hasn't seen her Mommy in 6 days. It's not easy. For anyone.

Wheels

Lucy finally has her sea legs, and walks occasionally with the help of her walker.

Guess who's riding a 2-wheeler? I'm not going to brag, but seriously, it's like he was born to ride! Check out the grin on Daddy'O!

Let The Wild Rumpus Begin!

Since we've crossed over to the world of Girly Girl, we might as well embrace it. We invited 5 other girls over for a sleepover b-day party for Jacqueline. (We invited the girls ONLY after we knew Ken, Holly AND Deane were going to be in town. Yeah, I'm smart like that.) The activities included everything HSM: pin the microphone on Sharpay (props to Grandad and GMa Holly for making those!), HSM bingo, screaming & running around, decorating crowns, dress-up, making bracelets, make-your-own-cupcake, more screaming and running, make-overs, hot potato, hair salon, followed by screaming and a much-debated-about non-HSM movie. For the record, NO girls went home! (Holly can use this blog entry as evidence she WON the bet)! EVERYONE was asleep by 9pm, and awake before 6am. There were naps by many and 13 thank you cards written by the birthday girl, herself! And a giant thank you to Ken, Holly and Deane for making it all happen!

It was Annabel's REAL b-day, so we sang happy b-day to her too!

Happy Birthday Jacqueline!

Despite our best efforts, Jacqueline turned 6 today! Grandad and Grandma Holly came all the way from Texas for the festivities. We had a wonderful evening with our best buddies and grandparents. At 6, it's all about HSM!!!

Jackie enlisted the help of The Striped Briggade to unwrap her loot.

For security purposes, Grandad and Grandma Holly kept a safe distance from the present fury.

Princess Jacqueline's Court Jester entertained the lay people. (Those are his jammies on his head, obviously).
