The Great Cornholio!

He was in a W-I-L-D (cats) kind of mood today.
Great idea to drink the shampoo, Cam-O!

Better idea to dump it on Jackie's head. Maybe it will come out of her mouth.

This is a GIANT baby step: Lucy sitting in the bathtub w/o being held and not screaming her bloody head off.

Happy Birthday Lucy! Celebration 2

We celebrated Lucy's first birthday today at the waterpark in Greensboro with the Messicks & Youngs. It was hard to get action shots, b/c a 1:1 parent:kid ratio was necessary. It was that wild. These are the baby slides.

Lucy LOVES sugar, just like the rest of her family!

But she didn't like the birthday girl hat at all.

However, the rest of the gang thought they made great horns, beaks and ears.

The crew being cats.

Happy Birthday Lucy! Celebration 1

Since it's already August 30 in Korea, we celebrated Lucy's first birthday Korean style. As per tradition, she dressed up in a han bok. This han bok was given to Lucy by her foster mother.

For her ceremony, we took a cue from our Korean neighbors and chose to use a pencil, rope and money. According to Korean tradition, whichever item Lucy chooses indicates her chosen path and success in life. The pencil represents scholarly endeavors, the rope represents longevity and the money represents prosperity.

She chose the pencil! Here's to perpetuating the stereotype of Asians being braniacs! Yipee!

This is the best we could do with all FIVE of us!

The week of firsts

Tomorrow Jackie starts kindergarten. She's much more excited about it than I am. She laid out her clothes tonight. They will make quite a picture.

Cameron starts preschool next week for the first time ever. It's only 2 half-days. He's excited about it b/c Leigh is in his class. He won't be so excited when he realizes it's at the church. He cries like a maniac when we pull into the church parking lot. Leigh won't be excited either when she realizes Julie and I are not coming in. I'm sure THAT will be blog-worthy.

And on Sunday, Lucy turns one. ONE! She'll wear her han bok and do the traditional Korean first birthday, sans the Korean food. (It tastes like dog food. Sorry Lucy.)

Lucy's new car

She was a bit unsure at first.
Kicking it into high gear.
Jackie was a BIG help here.

Cam-O the Ham-O

This is what happens when we tell Cameron to 'SMILE'!

Alena was like "Seriously dude. You're a wack job. I'm outta here."

Bathing Beauties

Jackie is actively making Leigh her HSM protege. She's teaching her to sunbathe like Sharpay, with costume, dance moves and spunk.

This is Leigh's interpretation of Bathing Beauties.

This is Lucy's.

All Seven Grandkids

We are back! All a little sick, itchy or worn out. We had quite the trip and it was a last minute plan to travel to Pittsburgh from the Wye River, but WELL worth the visit. I'm stealing this pic off my sister's blog, b/c I don't have the energy to upload my own pics. It wouldn't be a family trip w/o an ER visit (Dave) a barf (Jackie) and someone getting sick (me). Good times.*

L-R: Sammie (2 1/2) Wyatt (3 1/2) Lucy Goosey, Jackie, Shane (6 mo), Jonah (2 1/2) CDog.

*Dave (AKA MR. PREDNISONE MAN) had a severe reaction to poison ivy. He is fine now. Don't give him any sympathy b/c he waited until it was dripping and oozing before going to urgent care for prednisone. FOUR DAYS LATER! Seriously, no sympathy. Jackie barfed less than 10 min into our 8-hr trip home, but just once. Of course we prepared well in advance by packing specified 'barf towels' b/c we are not neophytes at this. I, on the other hand, am wiped, have a horrible cold and would like to use my sympathy card here if it will get me out of unpacking from the trip.

Wye River Reunion

We spent the day at the Wye River enjoying the wonderful weather and fantastic family!

Aunt Lauren entertained my crew and Ang and Alena spent MOST of the day in the pool.
Uncle Rodger getting the blue crabs ready for the boil.

Cameron, Alena, Owen and Jackie checking out the crab pots.

Aunt Katie loving on Lucy.

This was the beginning of Dave's Poison Ivy Flare #2. It's much prettier now- oozing and everything.

Aunt Connie and Alena.
